Thanksgiving Turkey and Fish | Rowan Family Tree

20121007-224608.jpg

Greetings from Creston where tonight Sugar and Spice caught their first fishes!

We?ve been having a nice weekend hanging out and relaxing with the grandparents, and my sister and her hubby came to spend the night as well.

We had turkey on Saturday night when Auntie Ena was here because my dad wanted to show off his wild turkey. apparently he bow hunted the gobbler in the back yard. It might be one of the weirdest birds I?ve ever carved or helped cook? Almost no fat on it, to the degree that the bird had a hard time browning. ?But the meat was delicious and the company was good too.

We went fishing twice? Grandpa and Grandma had given the girls each a fishing rod for their birthday, so this was the girls? first chance to try them out. The first time in the boat all we caught was weeds while the girls trolled. But the second night we went and casted under the bridge on the river, and both the girls caught their first fish! Spice caught a big pike minnow, and Sugar caught a reasonable sized fish as well. Daddy caught a teeny tiny fish and so did Grandpa, so the girls definitely one the day!?

Happy thanksgiving to all of you. When we shared what we were thankful for last night, some of the answers were for our health, for our family, for the abundance where we live, for being in Canada, for the food we grew ourselves and the food we bought from the farmers market, for ?helping kids in Ethiopia? and ?building a school in Ethiopia.??

What were you thankful for this thanksgiving?
